We were excited when we were approached to design and build a new reception building for Park Leisure in Cornwall. The end result is a bright, airy space which is the perfect complement to the natural landscape and the warmest welcome for the weariest of travellers.
At the initial brief we were asked for a building with lots of glass and timber cladding. The building was to showcase the Leisure Resorts brand as well as providing a reflection of the wider site.
In the initial stages of the basic design, we were challenged to comply with a planning scheme which was already in place. The building was to be mono-pitched and incorporate finishes which would complement the surrounding countryside, as well as the buildings already on site. The end result included a combination of high-performance weatherboard cladding and low maintenance green walls.
On the interior we worked alongside the requirements of all of the key stakeholders, including the client and their interior design team. The multipurpose nature of the space included clever partitioning. We incorporated dropped ceiling areas upon which up-lighting was mounted, and we worked with the lighting designers to ensure everything was in place for the final lighting design.
We designed in meeting rooms as well as a reception desk and open plan seating areas. We specified soft commercial grade floor finishes, all planned out to reflect the zoning of the interior areas. We also included kitchen and washroom facilities for staff and weary travellers.
Convenience and safety were key to the success of this project. We installed the building over the summer season of a Cornwall holiday park, while it was still open to the public. With that in mind the building was delivered as complete modules for site connection and finishing works.
The powered glazed entrance doors welcome visitors in to the space and help to create the warm, peaceful arrival hall.
