All of our buildings are designed and made in our manufacturing facility in West Yorkshire. Our in house, highly experienced architectural design team work directly alongside our own manufacture and installation teams which give us a level of control which is rare to find. Every building large or small has the same level of attention to design and structural detail which includes steel incorporated into the frame, custom made panel structure, and precision interior finishes. You can be confident that your Pod is built to last.
This is dependent on the size of the outdoor pod, but an Eco Pod typically requires 10 working days on site. Larger commercial or school projects will often be delivered as large volumetric modular systems to keep disruption to a minimum. We undertake as much work as possible in the workshop, to reduce the time needed and impact on your site.
As part of our service, we will provide a foundation setting out design for your project. We’ll always suggest setting the foundations down below ground level so that your building is neatly levelled in to your landscape – it’s one of the things that sets us apart. We position the building on to an engineered sub-frame system unique to Pod Space, designed to work with a variety of foundation types depending on site conditions. We can work with low impact and cost effective precast concrete pads, screw piles or concrete foundations – we’re happy to work with your chosen groundworker to make sure everything runs smoothly. On larger or custom projects we can collaborate with our Structural Engineer for the foundations design.
We have a range of standard sized buildings, from small garden offices to larger buildings, but every garden pod that we offer can be designed to your individual requirements. If the existing position of windows and doors don’t quite suit your site, we can alter them to make the best use of the light and views. We can even design a completely bespoke garden room to the exact dimensions and layout that you have in mind. If you want something completely different the Pod Space experienced design team are happy to discuss your requirements
A typical lead time for a Pod Space garden building is around 8 – 12 weeks but get in touch to find out what installation slots we have available at the moment. We install on site all year around so we’re happy to help at any time during any season.
Our standard office pods have been designed to meet planning policy ‘permitted development’ and therefore in most cases will not require planning permission. In certain circumstances however, such as if you live in a national park / AONB or your Pod exceeds over 50% of your garden area, then it is likely you will require planning consent. For our commercial clients or those who will require planning permission Pod Space architectural design team are happy to consult with your local authority and apply for planning permission on your behalf.
We offer a full design and build service. Your project will include a full set of design drawings during the planning phase to enable you to plan the locations of fixtures and fittings. We will deliver a full turnkey building with high levels of acoustic and thermal insulation and high performance aluminium framed doors and windows which wont need repainting every few years.
On the interior you’ll have plastered painted walls and solid timber floors as well as all of your sockets, switches and lighting. Underfloor heating is standard but with options for Air to Air heat pumps as a source of heating and cooling. We hand you the keys and you are good to go!
Pod Eco buildings are designed with the natural environment in mind so the materials we use will complement their surrounding space rather than imposing on it. Our Pods are usually detached spaces rather than extensions so if yours is a Garden Pod then it will be a definable separate space away from the house. As we use our own prefabricated modular system, they also offer the advantage of being much quicker to install on site.
